How to calculate an influencer’s cost per 1,000 views

The formula, which views to use, and which Reels to leave out before you compare a creator’s price with what their Reels deliver.

The formula

Cost per 1,000 views is the price divided by the views, multiplied by 1,000. It turns a price into something you can compare across creators of different sizes.

Example: a creator quotes €2,000 for one Reel, and their Reels usually reach 31,400 views. €2,000 ÷ 31,400 × 1,000 = €63.69 per 1,000 views.

Use the middle, not the average

One viral Reel moves an average a long way. Take ten Reels: nine reached 20,000 views and one reached 500,000. The average is 68,000; the middle value, the median, is 20,000. The median describes the Reel you are most likely to get.

Looking at the spread helps too: the Reel a quarter of the way up and the one three quarters of the way up show how much results vary from one post to the next.

Which Reels to leave out

Before you take the middle, remove the Reels that do not describe an ordinary new post:

  • Pinned Reels. Creators pin their best performers.
  • Reels posted in the last 14 days. Their views are still growing.
  • Reels another account posted with the creator as a collaborator. Their views come from that account’s audience too; see the guide on collab Reels.
  • Reels without a visible view count. Missing is not zero.

When the quote covers more than one thing

If the price covers Reels and Stories together, only the Reels can be checked: Story views are private and disappear after a day. Ask the creator what part of the price is for the Reels, or divide the whole price by the Reels and say so when you compare.

Check a creator’s real Reels

Aferium collects the creator’s recent Reels, leaves out pinned ones, Reels still growing and Reels another account posted, and shows the whole range with every Reel as evidence.
